Samsara Wine Co. is looking for a seasonal harvest intern for the 2022 vintage.  Our winery is located in Goleta, just north of the city of Santa Barbara.

 

Job Description:

Previous harvest experience preferred but not required.

Our harvest intern will work closely with the winemaker and winemaking team for all wine production tasks and activities.

Samsara produces premium wines, and we strive to be among the best producers on the central coast.  We are seeking interns who share our commitment to quality and enthusiastically step up to help us achieve our wine production goals.

Harvest work can be very challenging, with long hours. We will provide an environment that is both educational, and fun and rewarding for our intern. This is great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in quality driven wine production. The ideal candidate for this position can handle physically demanding work yet mentally stay focused for long hours at a time. We will require availability 5-6 days a week from Aug 1 through mid-November. Must be flexible to work any day of the week.

We are starting our intern season a little earlier than usual this year to provide our newly developed training program to all interns and production staff.  We’ll have 5-7 days of dedicated training where we’ll review standard operating procedures for all winery and harvest related tasks.

Skills and qualities necessary for this position:

-Excitement and passion for winemaking!

-Attention to detail

-Good communication skills necessary

-Positive attitude critical, hours can be long

-Team focused

Tasks will include but not limited to:

-Assist with vineyard checking, grape sampling
-Sample collection and record keeping
-Barrel/equipment cleaning and sanitation
-Punch downs
-General cellar work
-Maintain and practice sterilization and sanitation standards
-Fermentation monitoring and evaluation
-Ability to climb, bend, and lift (up to 60 lbs) required

Typically working 5-6 day weeks , 40-50 hours, with overtime pay for 40+ hours.
