My journey in Santa Barbara has been nothing short of remarkable. Two decades ago, I arrived here with just $600 and my faithful dog, Levi. Back then, my path led me into the world of fine dining during my college years, and Santa Barbara’s vibrant culinary scene beckoned me.
But deep down, I always knew that winemaking was my true calling, and this city became my ticket to explore that passion fully. As an artist at heart, I view winemaking as one of the most profound forms of creative expression. Crafting wines that don’t compromise or try too hard has become my mission – wines that invite you on a journey within yourself.
My life here has been a tapestry of experiences. I’ve been a freediving instructor, dabbled in fine art with a degree in printmaking, and I proudly own and captain Rooted Vine Tours, a venture that has been sailing the Santa Barbara waves for over a decade. I still call Santa Barbara home from my wooden sailboat I’ve been building and residing on for many years. I love being surrounded by the natural beauty that this region offers.
In the realm of winemaking, I’m a firm believer in keeping it natural, with minimal intervention and a focus on organic and biodynamic practices whenever possible.
But beyond the wine, what truly matters to me are family, community, and giving back. I’ve witnessed the power of partnerships and the impact of charitable contributions in this community.
So here’s to my incredible journey in Santa Barbara, a place that has been my muse and my canvas for crafting both wine and a fulfilling life.
