Native9 Wine is thrilled to announce all tours/tastings will be hosted by one of the most dynamic voices in Santa Barbara Wine: Wes Hagen. Previously working for Clos Pepe and J. Wilkes/Bien Nacido for three decades, Wes brings a wealth of knowledge, passion and fun to the private tasting. All tasting is by appointment, we suggest a few days’ lead time, but you can always text (805-450-2324) or email ([email protected]) Wes to check on a last minute booking. Tastings are at a working ranch/vineyard in Santa Maria, and include a vineyard walk, formal tasting of multiple vintages of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon with cheese, salami and spice/cheese pairings with the wines. This is the greatest wine tasting you’ve never experienced–a Wine and Spirits Top 100 Winery in the World. Expect amazing and bring the most demanding of palates! Reservations are accepted 7 days a week as available. 2 hours, $50/person, refundable on purchase or wine club. Book direct: http://ranchosdeontiveros.com/reservation/
Read below for our amazing history, as told by James Ontiveros:
In 1781, Josef Ontiveros rode from Mexico to Alta California to stay. Josef would become the first in a line of nine generations of California ranchers and farmers, with James Ontiveros as the ninth. Today, James is still in the same valley that generations of his family have called home. The wines of Native9 and Rancho Viñedo, together forming Ranchos de Ontiveros, tell a real story about the durability of truth, the people, and the earth itself. This very earth, farmed by us, is where these wines come from.
Through the struggle of the vines to reach for water and nutrients in the depleted earth, combined with the cool Mediterranean climate of the Santa Maria Valley, topped off with a little luck, Ranchos de Ontiveros makes wine as complex as the the story of how they came to be.
